Security Updates

Security-fix updates included ungoogled-chromium to 151.0.7922.137 addressing a large set of CVEs, libgit2 1.9 and 1.8 to 1.9.7 and 1.8.7 with security fixes, and a libde265 security fix.

Notable Updates

Notable updates landed for hunspell to 1.7.3, openssh enabling password authentication on the Hurd, diffoscope to 327, qgis to 3.44.13, and librewolf to 153.0.4-1. A pull request also fixed the --public-key option of guix publish.

New And Removed Packages

62 package changes were detected: 7 added, 6 removed, and 49 updated. New packages included font-new-heterodox-mono, npiet, and python-forastero, alongside python-klayout, instrain, liblzf, and gnu-efi-3. Removed packages included fbreader, flint-3.3, python-muon, python-pairtools, python-pysam, and python-pytest-runner.

Reproducible Computational Environments Talk At RRPR 2026

Software Heritage shared that Simon Tournier will present "Reproducible computational environment: Archiving and beyond" at RRPR 2026 on August 21, noting that of 600-plus computer science papers examined only 40% of their software installs.
